Foxconn will promote tablet computers to compete directly with Apple

  Foxconn has partnered with Mozilla to produce a new tablet product. The new product will be launched to the public today.

Mozilla is the developer of Firefox browser. Foxconn is a subsidiary of Hon Hai Technology Group. Foxconn is a subcontractor for high-tech companies such as Apple, HP, Sony, and Nokia. Whether Foxconn can make money is closely related to the success of the products of the aforementioned companies.

According to data provided by The Wall Street Journal, 50% of Foxconn's profits come from contract manufacturing for Apple. Due to weakened demand for iPhones, Foxconn's revenue in the first quarter decreased by 19.2%.

Before partnering with Mozilla, Foxconn had shown ambition to create its own brand. The company has invested a significant amount of resources into the research and development of flat screen televisions.

"The decision of Foxconn to directly compete with electronics giants should not be shocking," said Henry Blodget, the host of The Daily Ticker

If the rumors of Foxconn and Mozilla entering the tablet market are true, then these two companies will have to work very hard to persuade consumers to buy their products, as the competition in this market is already very fierce.

According to market intelligence firm IDC, Apple controls 39.6% of the tablet market, Samsung has a market share of 17.9%, Amazon has a market share of 3.7%, and Microsoft has a market share of 1.8%.
