Shandong Jianzhu University was founded in 1956. The school adheres to the motto of "being virtuous and knowledgeable, building a foundation and building a career", promotes the school spirit of "diligence, rigor, unity, and innovation", strengthens the construction of connotation, and condenses the characteristics of education. It has developed into a multidisciplinary university with engineering as the main subject, civil engineering and architecture as the characteristics, and cross infiltration and coordinated development of engineering, science, management, literature, law, agriculture, and art. The school is located in Lingang Development Zone, Jinan City, covering an area of over 2500 acres and a campus area of over 700000 square meters. There are 17 colleges (departments), 55 undergraduate majors, 1 doctoral talent training program, 14 first level discipline master's programs, 52 second level discipline master's programs, and 6 master's degree authorization categories. We enroll 25000 full-time students from 30 provinces (cities, autonomous regions) across the country. The school has four national characteristic majors, two national engineering practice education centers, one national experimental teaching demonstration center, three national quality courses, one national bilingual demonstration course, and one national teaching master. It has won one second prize of the national teaching achievement award, and all six civil engineering majors have passed the national professional evaluation. The school is a university implementing the National Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program and the College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program. In 2007, it was rated as excellent in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation by the Ministry of Education.

In the past five years, the school has undertaken more than 420 research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, with a total research funding of over 300 million yuan. Received more than 80 science and technology awards at the provincial and ministerial levels, including 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize of Ministry of Education Technology Invention Award, and 3 first prizes of Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress Award.
